Silver Spring Alumni Chapter Community Involvement Committee

Goal:

The goal of the Community Outreach Committee is to enhance the quality of life in Montgomery County, Maryland through planning and executing a wide range of services to the community.

Objectives:

The objectives of the Community Outreach Committee are as follows:

  1. Support local clubs, organizations, and agencies recognizing their importance to the community’s quality of life; and

 

  1. Encourage partnership and conversation between clubs, organizations, and agencies, in order to leverage resources; and

 

  1. Increase community involvement by stakeholders in and around Montgomery County, Maryland.

 

Activities:

 

The Community Outreach Committee reaches our objectives through participation in several activities with multiple community stakeholders including:

          Donating meals to families during Thanksgiving Holiday

          Donating gifts to families during Christmas Holiday

          Supporting the Theta Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s Diabetes Walk

          Volunteer with A Wider Circle whose efforts focus on the provision of basic need items, workforce development, wraparound support, and neighborhood revitalization.  www.awidercircle.org

          LOGAN’S RUN, Jamon Education Foundation, in connection with Jamon Montessori School, sponsors an annual 5K race and family fun run to raise awareness about Transverse myelitis. www.logansrunbyjamon.com

 

          MARYLAND VOTER REGISTRATION:  Participate in various voter registration drives in an effort to increase voter education and turn out in Montgomery County, Maryland.
