Dominique Valines

About Me

Brother Ian Dominique Lamont Valines hails from Portsmouth, Virginia where he was born and raised by two Navy Veterans, Ian L. and Kimberly L. Valines.  Being from a military family, he moved around all over Virginia, New Jersey, and eventually ending up in Delaware.  Graduated from Christiana High School in Newark, Delaware in the Class of 2008.  After high school, he enrolled in the University of Delaware.  During his college years, there were many lessons that he learned before graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Health Behavior Science with a minor in Public Health.  After college, he continued working multiple jobs to take care of his responsibilities until he joined the Department of Homeland Security in 2015 and moved to Vermont to safeguard the borders with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).  During his 2.5 years in Vermont, he built his resume to include being a Less Lethal (Defensive Tactics) Instructor, an integral member of the Counterterrorism Team (intercepting, interrupting, and uncovering terroristic activity and persons), and a host of other leadership positions.  He received a transfer to Boston where he expanded his resume with a selection for a temporary duty assignment to CBP’s Basic Academy in Glynco, GA as a Use of Force Instructor.  He spent 9.5 months teaching new officers how to use force effectively and correctly but had to return to Boston in June 2019.  In the Spring of 2020, Brother Valines received the distinction of becoming a man of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated through the Boston (MA) Alumni Chapter but right after that milestone was achieved, he was selected for a new position with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Baltimore.  Since moving back to the DMV area, he has been involved with different community service efforts and initiatives through the organization to impact the next generation.  His aspirations are to impact law enforcement and communities as an instructor, making sure that the next generation of officers are exposed to situations and people to handle situations and people better.  He also wants to aid the next generation of Black men going to college to offset student loans and debt.
